Blog 5: Things are looking up10/31/2022 I am going to try on Monday to ask Mr. Barker if the editing software was free or not because I could’ve sworn it was free. The website said it was free, and when I looked up free editing software it said it was free, and Mr. Barker said it was free. I really hope that at some point I will finally have good software that I can use and not worry about it just not working on me. So last week I had issues with editing software and was worried that I wouldn’t have a way to edit my videos. Due to that scare, I put in some of my own research and actually found a good editing software that I will be using. Also, I have given up streaming as YouTube streaming is kinda weird and I don’t understand it. The video software which I have started to use is VSDC which I found by looking up on YouTube free editing software. I ended up watching a tutorial video from the channel that I found the software from which enlightened me on how the software works. It also reassured me that I would likely not have issues with it stopping on me because it’s a free trial. On that note, I also recorded but am yet to have edited a video for this week. In the video, my friends and I decided to do the funny breaking bad heist and cook lots of meth. I decided that we should do a loud heist because the last video was a stealth heist which is really only half of what Payday 2 is. Ok, disclaimer the recipe that is used in-game is actually just salt water, not meth the developers didn’t want to get a lawsuit for showing how to actually cook meth.
Now, because I wanted to do something stupid I decided to make a build around one of the worst guns in the game, the AMCAR. This gun is so absolutely bad that it wraps around to being fun. Due to me knowing the ins and outs of Payday I was able to make the gun’s stats from horrible to kinda meh. During the heist, you can see I do fairly well because I’m very good at the game and know these heists like the back of my hand. Hopefully, with the new editing software, I can finally start making videos weekly and get good at one software. Oh, and you should expect there to maybe be a video of me and my friends on Halloween because we are very proud of our costumes.

Blog 4: Back in the thick of it10/22/2022 Oh boy here we go, this week I have learned something that really annoyed me. I learned that the editing software that I used which I thought was free was actually just a free trial and I can no longer use it. This is an issue as I now don’t have good editing software that could work. I have a few ideas of what to do but not much that could easily work. My first idea is to attempt to use the first editing software on my phone. The same issue still applies as when I tried the first time so I would have to find some way around it. Throughout this entire process, I have had an issue with storage and it keeps propping up. I thought it would be fixed through the SSD drive but it wasn’t because the SSD was awful. I hopefully will be fixing that by getting a new computer for myself but that is a long-term solution that will not affect this project. I still need to post something for my YouTube so I have decided that I will try streaming on YouTube today. This stream will be unedited of course but you will likely see a raw view of how I make my videos. This of course means there will likely be some cursing slip-ups, but it’s an unedited video what do you expect? Hopefully, this band aid solution will suffice, and maybe later if I get new editing software I will edit the stream down to a more watchable experience. I will try and get Green to play with me but he might be asleep as I think he was up all night playing other games.
I am going to try on Monday to ask Mr. Barker if the editing software was free or not because I could’ve sworn it was free. The website said it was free, and when I looked up free editing software it said it was free, and Mr. Barker said it was free. I really hope that at some point I will finally have good software that I can use and not worry about it just not working on me.

Blog 3: Things go well10/18/2022 This week things went fairly well unlike the last two weeks which means I can go more into what I was doing and not the problems stopping me from doing what I wanted. Despite my not getting as much done, what I did get done was very important and will lead me into doing more. The First thing I will go into is that I was able to finally get good editing software that worked and didn’t have some huge issue that made it unusable. The editing process that I go through is fairly simple though I didn’t have enough time to fully do it with the last video. First I will go through the entire video and take out parts that I don’t think would do very well in the video. Next, I will look back and do little edits to make the video just a little more entertaining for the viewer. After I think I am finished with the video then I will put it on my drive and prepare to upload it to YouTube. My second favorite part of the process would be the making of the thumbnail. The software I use is none other than Google draw which plays perfectly into the design philosophy of my thumbnails. I try to make my thumbnails so purposefully bad that it’s funny and therefore catches your attention so you will watch it. When making the thumbnail I first get a background image and then look in my meme folder then and add whatever stock image I can find, yeah it’s not that complicated it takes me less than 5 minutes. The only other thing that I can talk about is the video recording itself which I covered in the other blogs. What I will always do is get my friends together to make the recording actually enjoyable as I think a video is much more watchable if there are other people in the recording having fun and making jokes with you. My friends and I try to filter ourselves when playing a game but it’s not always easy when you’re getting surrounded by enemies at the end of a level, so there are a few slip-ups. This week was a week where I have not that much to talk about but to me, that is a good thing because that means not much went wrong and therefore I didn’t suffer as much making my videos. Perhaps next week I can talk specifically about what I was doing in the video and my thought process on the editing of that specific video.

Blog 2: Before it gets better, it gets worse10/18/2022 Last week I went on a lengthy rant about all the issues that I ran into while trying to get everything to work. You may also remember my last remark about how I knew that I would have even more issues, turns out that I was right. Before I go into the issues let us go into what went right, which wasn’t much. The first thing was getting everyone together in a call which didn’t take long. The second thing was that the recording worked fairly well, that’s about all. The first issues came in the game I was playing which some I didn’t notice until the editing process. The first issue is that at the point in the game we were at, we had to split up due to not everyone owning the DLC therefore not being able to play the levels in multiplayer. The next was with sound. The game starts with the sound being incredibly loud to the point where it is hard to hear people. I eventually fixed this but a good portion of the video had this problem. The next was with the characters, specifically their language. The characters that you play are robbers, the bad guys, so they don’t have the best language in the world so I had to edit out as much as I could. The next issues arose in editing and boy were there a few. The first problem that showed its ugly head was that the editing software I was going to use was on my phone. At first, this didn't seem like an issue but the video file was just too large for it to fit on my phone so I had to find a new one. I ended up going to Filmora Wondershare which seemed to work well. The software was simple to learn and easy to use so I spent the next hour and a half editing the video and figuring out what I wanted. Then I learned about the next issue after you edit your video Filmora will plaster its watermark all over your video making it unwatchable. So I got the video out but it just sucks for all of the reasons that I talked about here. In conclusion, technology will never work when you want it to and it sucks. Hopefully, I will be recording a new video soon and I got a new editing software (Thank you Mr. Barker) which hopefully will work. I was going to record me and the boys playing a horror game but it seems one of us was stupid and got himself grounded so we will be doing more Payday 2. So anyways, like and subscribe to my YouTube.
Oh and just because here is the full picture of my thumbnail, I’m very proud

Blog 1: Intro to my suffering10/18/2022 I have embarked on a journey, a journey known as Genius Hour. Genius Hour is a project given to me by Mr. Barker where I can do anything as long as I can track my progress and make a presentation. I have decided to create a YouTube channel to record my shenanigans when I play games. I thought it would be fun and fairly easy, it is the first week and I have already been proved wrong. The first step to creating my gaming empire was of course to create a YouTube channel, I have just decided to use my personal YouTube account for this as my comments on other videos might invite traffic to my channel. The next step was figuring out how I was going to edit videos so I looked throughout the internet to find easy and free software to use. I found an app on my iPhone called “Video Up!” which is a free editing software that I will be using to edit my videos. It has limitations but I’ve already thought about ways to get around some of the limitations. I immediately got started on working out how the app worked and learning exactly what I could do with it, and this is what I came up with. This was just a random compilation of videos on my phone mixed with a few memes. In the video, I was testing what exactly I could do with the program that I had and the exact possibilities, the result speaks for itself. I then posted the video on YouTube to learn what it was like and to see if I would have any problems with posting videos. Luckily the posting and sharing of the video went well and I didn’t have any problems. Now I had a problem, I needed to record videos on my PC. What I wanted to do was get an external hard drive so I could store the videos somewhere safe and personal. I had some extra money so I bought a 2-terabyte hard drive. Now I had the storage so it was time to use it, except there was a catch. I had all that storage but moving files to the file was not fast at all, so I spent 3 whole days downloading all the stuff I needed. I would go into all the problems but it was so awful and there were so many that I’ll have to go into it later to explain it all. After everything was finally downloaded I was ready to start recording. I wanted to use the program OBS to record but it wouldn’t work. It turns out that my computer’s drivers are too outdated to run OBS and record. I tried updating them but it was just too limited by the technology, but it was at this point I remembered a possible route to recording. There is this program from Geforce called Shadowplay and I adore Shadowplay. Shadowplay is incredibly easy to use and records everything from your game and your microphone. After a bit of testing, I created a test video to make sure that it would record sound and to see where it would put the video file. After all that pain I finally recorded and posted my second test video which is just me messing around with the menus of Payday. After all this pain I have finally gained hopefully the ability to record and edit a video which will hopefully be coming out soon. Please subscribe to my channel. I went through lots of pain and I just know it isn’t over.
